Israeli warplanes are pounding the homes of Palestinians in Gaza and are bombing houses and tunnels near the Egyptian border, while Israel's troops moved farther into populated areas of the Gaza Strip. Medical officials in Gaza say at least 900 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli offensive; most of them are civilians and children. Israel said that about only 300 of Hamas fighters were killed in the battle. Ten Israeli soldiers have been killed and about 40 were injured in the fighting. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in his weekly Cabinet meeting Sunday that the military will continue the offensive against Gaza.
